Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Nolojia Ltd (Kenya) does with your data when you use PageMarks. It is short, because we collect very little.

The short version

Your notes and your browsing stay on your device. We do not track what pages you visit. Our servers hold your email address and your subscription status — and, only if you switch on Cloud Sync, a copy of your own PageMarks data so your other devices can pull it down. That's it.

What we collect

1. Account information

• Your email address
• Your display name, and your profile picture if you sign in with Google
• A hashed password (we never store the password itself)
• Dates: when you signed up, when you last signed in

We need this to give you an account and to know that your subscription is yours.

2. Subscription information

• Your plan, subscription status and renewal date
• Identifiers issued by our payment processor

We need this to know whether to unlock the product.

3. Payment information

We never see your card. Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record. You give your card details to Paddle; they tell us only whether you have paid. Paddle's privacy policy governs what they do with them.

What we do not collect

To be completely explicit, unless you switch on Cloud Sync (see below), none of the following ever reaches our servers:

• the contents of your notes
• the URLs or titles of pages you visit or save
• your browsing history, in any form
• your bookmarks, collections, workspaces or sessions
• screenshots or page content

All of it is stored in your browser's own local storage, on your machine. There is no analytics SDK, no telemetry, and no advertising code anywhere in the extension.

Website favicons are loaded from your browser's own cache, not from a third-party service — so even those reveal nothing about you to anyone.

Cloud sync

Cloud Sync has now shipped. It is optional, clearly labelled, and off by default, and turning it on is the only way your note data ever leaves your device.

While it is on, a copy of your PageMarks data — your notes, saved pages, collections and workspaces — is stored on our servers under your account, so your other devices can pull it down. It is sent over an encrypted connection. Screenshots are not synced and never leave your device. We do not read this data, we do not analyse it, and we never share or sell it; it exists only to hand your own data back to your own devices.

You can delete it at any time: turning Cloud Sync off and choosing to delete the synced copy removes it from our servers. If you never turn Cloud Sync on, nothing in the list above ever reaches us at all.

Permissions the extension asks for

• Access to websites you visit — needed to draw your notes on the page. The extension reads nothing from the page and sends nothing anywhere.
• Storage — to keep your notes on your device.
• Tabs — to reopen a saved page and restore your reading position.
• Identity (optional, only if you choose Google sign-in) — to sign you in.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of processors, and no one else:

• Paddle — payments, billing and tax (merchant of record)
• Cloudflare — hosting for our licensing service and this website
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google
• Resend — to send account emails such as password resets

We do not sell your data, and we never will. We don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your subscription record. Paddle retains invoices as long as tax law requires them to.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Export everything — Settings → Backup, gives you a plain JSON file
• Delete your local data — Settings → Reset all data
• Ask us to delete your account — email us and we will
• Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it

Security

Passwords are salted and hashed. All traffic is encrypted in transit. Session tokens are stored hashed and are single-use. We hold no card data at all.

Children

PageMarks is not intended for children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect.
